This is actually a fairly old piece, but she still has a special place in my heart
 From "The Dreaming Tree" by C. J. Cherryh. I remember reading that mortals could not see Arafrael's true and most beautiful form. So here she is in full splendor, as the rest of her realm dies and recedes further from the growing realm of Man. *sigh* It was a bittersweet story, but then again, the darker fairy tales always ring true.
