I apologize to all my wonderful watchers. I've been a ghost on here as of late, but I have been busy. Recently I've been gearing up for a big move at the beginning of October. I'll be leaving Pittsburgh, PA for Huntsville, AL. I've been unemployed since January 2, and Pittsburgh just doesn't have anything to offer. My fiance's dad lives in Huntsville and he has offered to help us move and get back on our feet. I am extremely grateful to him for this sort of chance to start over. Hopefully we will find something better in the south. There's nothing but retail and $10/hr graphic design mill work here

Anyway, earlier this year I was contacted by Avalanche Comics, an independent comic publisher out of Ohio. At first they were interested in my coloring, but then curiosity rose about my line work. So they asked me if I would be interested in working on some sample pages, and of course I was very interested!
I've been keeping in touch with them, passing emails back and forth with sketches and thumbnails. Here is the first of the three pages that I have been working on.
[link]I am really enjoying being in contact with them. They are nice guys and have been very supportive and patient with me since, in all honesty, I have no idea what the hell I'm doing

So if something great comes of this, awesome. If not, my heart won't be broken. In the months that I have been talking to Avalanche my artwork has grown both because I have been forced to think differently, and also because Avalanche has really been pushing me. Whatever happens, I can't lose. I'm really excited to see where it all goes, but of course I don't want to get my hopes too high. I have a LOT to learn, and soooo much to improve. And no matter where I end up in the art world, this particular piece will always mean something to me. More than the piece itself (I give it about a month before I look back on it and go "Ew" lol), I am proud of the things I attempted for the first time in drawing it. Here is my list of "Firsts"
First - Batman drawing
First - Action Pose
First - Comic Page (duh

)
First - City Background
First - Detailed Architecture
First - Licensed Character
Trying new things is scary, but also rewarding. I'm trying to keep myself as open as possible so I can learn as much as possible. I have always had trouble with perspective and figure poses. Maybe if I do enough of these sample pages and keep pushing myself, I can finally break past that barrier.
Well, that's all for now. I'll keep you guys updated if anything comes of this. Cross your fingers for me

And as always, thanks for watching
